Today was a day fully packed with action!
In the morning we went to the Royal Australian Air Force Base Williamtown. There we watched the starts and landings of the fighter jets while beeing exposed to thunder-like noises and visited the Fighter World museum. It was really fascinating to see over a hundred years of aviation history in one place .
The afternoon was just as action-packed as the morning: We went offroad for 12 kilometers over the Stockton Sand Dunes – the largest sand dunes in the southern hemisphere – all the way to Tin City, a several decades old settlement of sheet metal huts in the middle of nowhere. Initially built as a shelter for shipwreck survivors, it is still inhabited today. It got especially famous for beeing one of the places where Mad Max was filmed.
